FCB Nyasa Big Bullets claimed their first win in six matches as they beat Bangwe All Stars 5-0 to progress into the round of 16 of the 2024 FDH Bank Cup.

Babatunde Adepoju, with his second goal of the season, and two goals each from Patrick Mwaungulu and Chikumbutso Salima sealed a comfortable 5-0 win for Kalisto Pasuwa’s side, who had registered four draws and a defeat in their previous five League games.

The Peoples team, who went into the half time break deadlocked with the Stars 0-0, erupted for five second-half goals from three different scorers en route to a 5-0 victory.

Mwaungulu got the holders on the board in the 52nd minutes, after Chikumbutso Salima dribbled past his maker on the right before laying a pass behind Bangwe defense for Mwaungulu to make a simple tap in.

And once the Peoples team offense got on board, there was no slowing it down.

Bullets doubled the lead on 67th minute after Mwaungulu fed Chikumbutso Salima, in a similar fashion to the first goal, and the young winger made no mistake to register his first goal for the seniors.

It was 3 for Bullets at 83rd minute when Crispin Mapemba showed flashes of what he is capable of soon after being introduced, cutting in from the left and bursting between Bangwe defenders before releasing Babatunde whose stylish pass found Salima who slotted home to increase punishment on his former club.

Four minutes later, Babatunde Adepoju ended his 76 days goal drought when he finished off a Patrick Mwaungulu’s pass. The 2022 TNM Super League top scorer scored his last goal on March 21st against Chitipa United in League.

Mwaungulu rounded out the scoring at the stroke of 90 minutes with his second of the match, 7 in all competitions this season, to make it a 5-0 final.

The victory to the peoples team means they have ended a five games winless run.

They won their last game on 18th May when they defeated Ekwendeni hammers 2-0.
