Darussunnah foundation supports hunger stricken families

Darussunnah foundation on Sunday donated assorted items to communities in Salima to help people and enhance governments efforts to fight hunger in the country.

Speaking after the donation, the organization board member, Sheikh Hussein Mussa said it was important and imperative for them to donate 500 bags of maize flour and assorted items to hunger stricken households in the district.

“When we learned about hunger among communities in Salima,we decided to donate items for hunger stricken communities in Salima and Mangochi respectively.

“When we learn about the worsening hunger hunger in the district,we decided to donate items to curb the vice,” he said.

Mussah asked the beneficiaries to use the donation accordingly to help fight against hunger in the country.

Salima Central member of parliament, Gerald Kapiseni Phiri commended the organization for supporting the community.

“We are passing through a difficult time as a lot of people are facing constraints in as far as hunger is concerned,” he said.

Phiri said he is excited that the foundation had to hear his call for humanitarian assistance among his people,saying other organizations should emulate what Daurussunah Foundation has done.

The donation has come at a time when the community is expecting to face hunger this year and possibly next year.
