Nyasa Big Bullets were held to a draw at Bingu National Stadium after Nickson Mwase’s second half header cancelled out Lanjesi Nkhoma’s early opener.

Both sides had chances to win the game, but the hosts were left more disappointed as they squandered more chances than The People’s Team.

WILD OPENER

It was an eventful afternoon at Bingu National Stadium for the official opening match of 2023 TNM Super League Season where it all started with a parade to show off the trophy to supporters in the stadium.

Despite the rains that started few minutes to the kick-off but spectators came in Large numbers to cheer their beloved teams.

NBB TITLE DEFENCE STARTS WITH A DRAW

Unlike last season when FCB Nyasa Bullets begun their title defence with a 2-1 win over Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, it’s a different story this time around when they drop two points replicating the 2020/21 season when they draw at home in their first match against Blue Eagles FC.

IDANA STARS

Chimwemwe Idana picked up the first Man-of-the-Match award as a Bankers player after his role in the 1-1 draw against his former club FCB Nyasa Bullets.

The Nyasa Bullets Reserve graduate dominated the midfield throughout the the match. He was the most fouled player in the first half as his movements were thorns to Bullets defense. Though he had just a single goal attempt but he managed to create a number of chances which were squandered by his team mates.

RECORD MAINTAINED

FCB Nyasa Bullets remains unbeaten against Silver Strikers in the TNM Super League since 2021.

Since Maxwell Gasten Phodo’s goal that handed the Bankers 1-0 win on 8th May 2021, the Bankers have lost twice to Bullets in June 2021 and May 2022 while their last meeting in October 2022 had ended in a 2-2 draw.

DE JONGH’S TOUCHLINE TANTRUM

Silver Strikers new coach Pieter de Jongh was at the centre of touchline flashpoint as he was spotted severally fuming at the officiation as well as quarrelling with the FCB Nyasa Bullets bench.

De Jongh was the only one booked in the match following his hostile actions against the officiation and Bullets technical panel.
