Airtel Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering an unmatched customer experience as the telecommunications giant marks Customer Service Week 2026 under the theme “The Extra Mile.”
The company, which serves more than 183.5 million customers across 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, says it will keep investing in network infrastructure, advanced technologies, and strategic partnerships to expand coverage and capacity while driving digital and financial inclusion across the continent.
Speaking at the start of Customer Service Week, Airtel Africa Chief Executive Officer Sunil Taldar said the theme reflects the company’s determination to go beyond expectations by listening to customers, learning from their experiences, and responding to their evolving needs.
“The Extra Mile” is aligned with our unwavering commitment to always go the extra mile for our customers by transforming their experience, listening to them, learning from them, and acting on their needs and expectations,” said Taldar.
Taldar said Airtel Africa’s continued digitization of services and expansion of connectivity are helping create new opportunities for individuals, businesses, and economies across Africa.
Among the latest innovations highlighted by the company is its direct- to- device satellite service, which has been commercially deployed in underserved rural communities. The technology allows customers with compatible smartphones to remain connected in areas beyond the reach of terrestrial mobile networks, provided they have a clear view of the sky.
Airtel Africa said it has also made significant investments in its network over the past year, adding more than 3, 3,250 new sites and 3, 3,200 kilometers of fiber.
The company has also invested in retail outlets, distribution channels, and artificial intelligence tools to improve customers’ digital experiences.
Customer safety is another area receiving attention, with Airtel Africa highlighting its AI- powered Spam Alert service, which is available free of charge to subscribers. The service is designed to identify and block suspected spam SMS messages while providing customers with real- time updates.
As part of this year’s Customer Service Week activities, Airtel Africa employees will join frontline teams.
