hoAirtel Malawi has reaffirmed its commitment to women’s empowerment, career development and workplace recognition as the company joins the nation in celebrating Mother’s Day.
In Malawi, Mother’s Day is commemorated on the 15th of October every year.
As part of the commemoration, the telecommunications company says it continues to invest in employee learning, career advancement, leadership development and wellbeing to create an inclusive workplace where women can thrive and take up leadership positions.
Speaking at Woodlands in Lilongwe on Wednesday. Airtel Malawi Managing Director Aashish Dutt said the celebration was an opportunity to recognise the contributions women make both within the workplace and in society.
“Today, we celebrate the incredible women of Airtel Malawi. A mother’s influence reaches far beyond the home; it shapes the people who shape the world. A mother is often our first teacher, our first champion, and the person who believes in us before we know how to believe in ourselves,” said Dutt.
He said the company was committed to ensuring that female employees have opportunities to develop their skills, advance their careers and contribute meaningfully to the organisation.
“This is why as Airtel Malawi, we offer our female employees the opportunity to learn continuously, grow their careers, be recognised for their top performance, and have a voice in the organisation,” he said.
Through structured learning initiatives and professional development programmes, Airtel Malawi is equipping employees with the skills needed to remain competitive in an evolving business environment.
The company currently has 211 employees enrolled on Airtel Academy, its digital learning platform, where employees completed 3,241 certified courses over the past year, accumulating 3,924 learning hours.
Among the examples of women advancing into leadership positions are Thokozani Kamkondo-Sande, Managing Director of Airtel Money, and Ellen Pensulo, Acting Marketing Director at Airtel Malawi.
company’s message this Mother’s Day is that celebrating women goes beyond honouring their roles as mothers; it also means creating opportunities for them to develop their talents, lead with confidence and achieve their full potential.
