Homeland Security Minister Peter Mukhitho has told Parliament that Vice President Jane Ansah has requested that some of her security officers be returned to her office.
This came despite his earlier dismissal of reports claiming that security personnel had been removed from the Vice President’s office.
Mukhitho made the remarks in response to a question from Mchinji North East legislator Anthony Masamba, who asked him to address circulating claims that some police officers had been transferred, reducing the Vice President’s security detail.
The minister said it is normal for such security arrangements to change when a new administration takes over.
He also stated that the constitutional limit on security personnel for the Office of the Vice President is being followed.
