By Patrick Ng’ambi:

The Country’s leading Amapiano artist, Christopher Malera, popularly known as Avokado in music circles will on Friday release his first official single in 2023 titled “Chitsime” featuring the legends Billy Kaunda and Thocco Katimba.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday in Mzuzu, Avokado said “Chitsime” is a gospel Amapiano Song about Christ being the only one that can save and cleanse humanity from any sin.

He said it was a popular hymn in the religious circles and seeing that BillyKaunda has done a project on the same, he thought it wise to feature him together with Katimba.

“These are the people I grew up listening to their music and making them jump on an Amapiano beat was my wish,” Avokado said.

The Self-proclaimed Amapiano Landlord went on to say that it was an honour to finally work with Billy Kaunda for the first time and that he was grateful for having the opportunity to do so.

“Billy Kaunda was scheduled to record for 30 minutes but he spent over an hour to perfect the song. He is really a legend,” he said.

On his part, Billy Kaunda said it was always good for old musicians to work with the new generation considering thatmusic tends to change over time.

He said it was wonderful to work with Avokado and to experience a new sound in Amapiano music.

“Music is part of me and I am part of music. I love hymns, so I felt obliged to participate. I feel good,” Billy Kaunda said.

After disclosing the day of releasing the song on his Facebook page, several of Avokado’s fans expressed their glee over the development.

Minister CE Chapita wrote: “Imagine Billy Kaunda jumping on an Amapiano tune, it will be a massive tune. Looking forward to the song and keep up the good work.”

The Song has been produced by Macksay Beats and LCB Studios and its visuals will come out in February as disclosed by the artist himself.
