Mangochi Central Constituency
Roza Fatchi Mbilizi has unveiled an ambitious development blueprint for the 2026 fiscal year under the Reformed Constituency Development Fund (CDF), prioritising critical health, road, and water infrastructure.

According to official project documents, the constituency has allocated a subtotal of MWK 3,336,448,147.63 across four major development pillars aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of local residents.

The flagship project of the 2026 CDF allocation is the expansion of Kera Health Centre. A total of MWK 2,856,376,387.97 has been earmarked for the construction of an Outpatient Department (OPD), a maternity wing, a placenta pit, three staff houses, and a reticulated water system.

MDF Engineering Construction Company has been contracted to execute the project, signalling a major step toward reducing maternal mortality and decongesting primary healthcare facilities in the area.

Speaking during the launch at Makawa Kera Ground, where the construction of the health facility and the rehabilitation of the 9km Chalamanda–Issa Mponda road in Nkumbi Village, Traditional Authority Mambo, Mangochi District, were launched, Mbilizi, who is also Minister of Agriculture, said the launch of Reformed CDF projects marked the beginning of a new chapter of development in the area. She said the hospital was chosen as the flagship project because the constituency had no proper hospital or clinic, only small private clinics.

“People were dying from simple, preventable diseases like malaria and cholera. The community itself prioritised a hospital, and the project includes a maternity ward, waiting bay, and doctor housing,” she said.

Malawi Defence Force Engineering Construction Company Limited Chief Executive Officer Brigadier General James Mathews Aidini said they would undertake the construction of the health facility and road gravelling on time and with quality workmanship.

Traditional Authority Mwambo hailed the Member of Parliament for facilitating the construction of the health facility, which will enable his subjects to access health services and reduce deaths.

Transportation and connectivity have also received significant financial backing. The rehabilitation and spot gravelling of the Chalamanda–Issa Mponda road has been allocated MWK 480,071,759.66, with MDF Engineers again taking the lead.

Additionally, MWK 188,920,018.87 has been set aside for the construction of three-span concrete bridges at Mitanga, awarded to Emmels Civil Engineering. These projects are expected to ease the movement of goods and people, particularly during the rainy season.

In the water sector, the constituency has allocated MWK 263,551,852.37 for the construction of a reticulated water system. However, the document notes that “identification of a contractor is in progress,” indicating that procurement processes are still underway for this specific component.

The 2026 Reformed CDF allocation in Mangochi Central demonstrates a strong alignment with development principles by directly addressing grassroots infrastructural deficits. By channelling over MWK 3.3 billion into tangible capital projects, the constituency aims to foster long-term economic growth, enhance public service delivery, and improve the overall quality of life for the constituency.
