Speaking at the UN General Assembly’s High-Level Meeting on the Right to Development, Malawi’s Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. George Chaponda called for the world to move beyond declarations and take concrete action to advance development for all.
Chaponda urged reforms to the global financial architecture, greater access to affordable development finance and technology, and stronger international solidarity to address the debt, climate and economic challenges facing developing countries.
He also highlighted Africa’s critical minerals and innovation potential, calling for equitable partnerships that can drive shared prosperity.
“development must be people-centred, inclusive and equitable, and every nation must have the policy space and resources to pursue its own development priorities”, he said.
