The Central Region Football Association (CRFA) says all is set for the FAM Districts Football Leagues’ third edition, which will be launched on Saturday 28th October, 2023 at the Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa.
CRFA Public Relations Officer Kondwani Kandiado said this in an interview with the Atlas.
According to Kandiado, a number of activities have been lined up to take place to spice up the launch which will be presided over by FAM President Walter Nyamilandu Manda.
“Indeed, the FAM cup launch will start with the parade of the trophy around Mponela trading Centre and the surrounding community to the venue of the activity and it will be spiced by a match between Tchawale City Football Club and Kalembelembe, a Dzaleka based outfit”
“And again let me also confirm that guest of honor on this special day, will be the FAM president Mr Walter Nyamilandu Manda” said Kandiado
In his remarks, FAM Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka said FAM is excited with the return of the Districts Leagues whose package has been increased from K60 million to K 90 million.
“Last season just like the inaugural season in 2021 was a success, and we would like to commend the Regional FAs and the Districts Football Committees for a job well done in executing the Leagues.
“We are achieving our goal of putting in place a systematic football development structure to enable unearthing of talent from the rural areas.
“The return of the competition is a sign that FAM is committed to develop rural football and Raise the Bar by putting more effort on the Districts and Regional Football which act as feeder leagues to elite football,”
“Our Football has struggled to reach its full potential in the past as we spent more time and energy on the Elite Football and ignored the lower end. But these Leagues have changed that as they have helped us put in place a cross cutting agenda of bottom-up in order to develop raw talented player,” said Zakazaka.
