FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are just one draw away from securing the TNM Super League title after beating Karonga United 0-1 at Karonga Stadium.
The People’s Team had previously gone four consecutive League matches without a win, but Patrick Mwaungulu’s seventh-minute header was enough to secure a much-needed victory for Bullets.
On the final day of the TNM Super League season, Bullets, who are three points ahead of Silver Strikers, need just a draw against Bankers at Kamuzu Stadium to win the league with 60 points. In contrast, Silver Strikers will need to produce a miraculous 8-0 scoreline against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets this Sunday to have any chance of overtaking them.
Currently, Bullets have a superior goal difference of 30, which is seven more than Silver Strikers. While the Bankers have never won against Bullets in the Super League since September 2013, it won’t be an easy task for them to produce something special and win the league.
Bullets’ win has not only affected the Bankers but also Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, whose title race is now over. With Bullets’ four-point lead over Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, even if they win against Civil Service United at Civil Stadium, they will still remain behind Bullets.
The Nomads must now shift their focus to second place, where they will look for a victory over Civil, while also hoping that Silver Strikers drop points so they can finish as runners-up.
This will be the fifth consecutive time that Bullets have won the TNM Super League.
