“It is our plans also to increase the sponsorship, our budget for next four years already accommodates for increase so I can assure them whether I’m alive or not this competition will see substantial increase in sponsorship” he said

Nyamilandu further further said there’s need to change the format of the competition in order to produce best District of the year.

“The format of this competition, the variety of this competition this cup must increase we want to have a district Champion whether it is Mwanza, people must know Mwanza there’s talent, whether it is Balaka or Mzimba, and will be able to map to know which District is lagging behind, which District is doing well but at this stage we don’t have our finger on the purse to say this district has more talent in goalkeepers, this District is doing very well but if we extend it to the national champion we will be able to zone in and drilling get down to know which District is doing very well”

The FAM President also said he wants to see FAM Districts League be permanent fixture in FAM’s calender.

In his part, Lilongwe District Football Committee Chairperson Gift Jere said the competition has been important in the development of football in the country.

“This competition has helped us alot not only in Lilongwe but also other districts in the development of football and lots of hidden talents at grassroot level has been revealed” said Jere

During the event, all regional football chairmen accompanied Walter Nyamilandu at Champions Stadium, in Mponela, Dowa where Districts football representatives were also available.

It all started with the parade of the trophy around Mponela trading centre and the surrounding community to the venue where activities took place.

The launch reached the climax with a match between Dzaleka based outfit Kalembelembe FC against Tchawale City from Ntchisi which ended 1-1.
